Newmarket Partnership was set up in 1979 to provide small and medium sized businesses with access to the level of expertise customarily reserved for larger companies. The objective of the business is to package all the skills available to larger organisations and offer them to the SME on an “as required” basis. Newmarket Partnership was set up in 1979 by David Manley and Gerry O'Reilly with the ethos of providing small and medium sized businesses access to the level of expertise customarily reserved for larger companies. But this was no ordinary accountancy firm!
Gerry O’Reilly says, 'I was in business with David for ten years. I thought I was joining an Accountancy Firm - but I soon learned that David did not see the business that way! He was an Entrepreneur to his fingertips! A sense of mission, a focus on the customer, and a commitment to new ideas and new approaches were his hallmark. Above all, he took an intense interest in people and businesses who were hungry for change. At Newmarket we pride ourselves that that his legacy lives on in the business he founded.'
Sadly David Manley passed away in 2002 and very shortly afterwards, The Friends of David Manley Committee, which includes Gerry O’Reilly, was formed to instigate an Entrepreneur Award scheme that would honour David’s memory.
